| The last Jazz in the Park concert for the summer season will be held
Saturday on the St. Simon's Island Lighthouse lawn with the sounds of
the Von Barlow Ensemble performing.
The concert:
* Features a familiar face to Jazz in the Park regulars.
* Will have tickets only available at the gate before the show.
The Von Barlow Ensemble will perform 7 p.m. Saturday on the St.Simons Island Lighthouse lawn. (Von Barlow Ensemble photo)The band. Von Barlow has played at Jazz in the Park events for many years on the St. Simons Island Lighthouse lawn. And Barlow has spent many years entertaining people all over the country, especially around Savannah and Jacksonville.
He has also performed at Madison Square Garden and the Apollo Theater in New York City, as well as at Woodstock in 1969.
Some famous singers and entertainers he has recorded and performed
with include Lou Rawls, The Ray Charles Trio, Etta James, Buddy
DeFranco, Marcus Roberts, Harry Connick Jr. and Della Reese.
His band includes several members who have performed with him over
the years at concerts and other events.
Concert information. The concert will start at 7 p.m. Saturday on the
St. Simons Island Lighthouse lawn. People are encouraged to bring
blankets, as well as snacks and drinks.
Tickets to the concert are available only at the gate and cost $10
for adults and $5 for children ages 6 to 12. Children under 6 years
of age get in free. |
